Full Version: To release also the portable standalone version of Ple4Win

Hello,

Is it also possible to release the portable standalone version of Ple4Win (future Ple4Win releases). All Ple4Win files should be placed in one folder and zipped, which can be extracted to one folder and runned without admin rights. This is easier for testing purposes with some autoscripts then asking our system administrator to install the .MSI file for only testing purposes. After the scripts are fully updated/tested and no issues are found the original Ple4Win .MSI file of Ple4Win can be installed to each workstation after every new release of Ple4Win.

I can use then simultaneously the latest portable version (testing of the scripts) and one version earlier (validated for the scripts) for the projects which is runned from the Program Files.

Thanks.

Shaswin
Thank you for your suggestion. I assigned ticket no. J-1859 to this request.

There are a couple of internal problems to solve, should we implement this request. The hardware dongle driver software is one of these, also completely separating all information stored of an installed version and a portable version has its challenges.

A way to workaround with the Wibu key DLL files is to refer firstly to the local extracted path and if not found then to use the default path of the Wibu Installation files. So that the same source code can be used in the MSI and the portable version.
It's a bit more complicated than that Wink
But thanks for thinking with us Smile
Jens,

This wish can be removed from the list, because it is to complicated and not a lot of users will use this method.
We still have this request pending, however its priority is low.
So we might look into this somewhere in the future, but at this point no development is taking place towards a portable version.
