The maximum change of diameter (in %) W+WD/D-M due to loads in the cross-section is calculated in output tables RMAXNEN or in RDPLMX.

The question is D here the outer or the average diameter. The average diameter is the correct one for thickwalled pipes. It is better to use the average diameter.

If the average diameter is used, please make it more clear in the helpfile in the data description/result options area of the output tables RMAXNEN and RDPLMX.

You are right, the help file is unclear in this. We will clarify this. I assigned ticket no. J-2043 to this issue.

The program does use the outer diameter, by the way. For thin-walled pipelines (the main focus of the program) this is a justifiable choice.
But we will discuss internally whether we will keep it that way or use the average diameter in the future (or even use different diameters depending on pipe material and relative wall thickness).

OK.

PVC/PE pipes are often thickwalled pipes, which are calculated in the General Analysis Type. So using the average diameter is saver. It is also used in the NEN 3650-1:2012 D.4.

In our discussion "normal" thin-walled steel pipelines, plastic pipelines and thick-walled steel pipelines will be considered.
The result might be something like 'use average diameter except if...', but we'll see.
