Specification of outer pipe diameter including coatings and marine growth (Input Table)
Through the input data table OUTDIAM the hydrodynamic diameter of the pipeline (section) is provided. This diameter includes all external (weight) coatings and possible marine growth and is used in the Morison equations to calculate the hydrodynamic forces on the pipeline.
The hydrodynamic diameter can be different from the diameter in table DIAM in Design Function 3.1 which contains the structural (steel) diameter applied in the pipe displacement and stress calculations.
If the hydrodynamic diameter is smaller than the structural diameter, the similar message M420/1 is given.
For pipeline sections not specified in this table the hydrodynamic diameter is taken equal to the structural diameter.
