Specification of loading combination to be taken into account in pipeline calculations (Input Table)

Table description:

Through the input data table LOCASE combinations of the loading components PRESS, T-DIF, DEADW, SETL, NODAL and WAVC as specified under Design Function 4.2 are composed by means of LOAD FACTORS. If elastic bends are specified in Design Function 2, the load factor ELBND must be greater than zero.

Without elastic bends this load factor should be zero. ¹ A loading combination consists of the specified load components, each multiplied by it's specific load factor and all multiplied by the general load factor GLOADF.

If the T-DIF loading component is zero in phase calculations, the temperature in the current phase is assumed to be T-REF .

The loading combination made through LOCASE will be used for the calculations to be performed in this function.

Moreover, for the calculations in function 620 the cross-section loads SOILNB and TOPLOAD will be multiplied by the general load factor GLOADF.

It is recommended to set this general load factor always to 1.

The loading combination is identified by a name IDENT, to be specified by the designer. This name will appear in the heading of the output tables of this and next functions.

¹ Calculation of elastic bends is possible with the geometrically non-linear modules only.

Using the NEN-option:

In case the NEN-module is used, the load factors are prescribed in NEN 3650-2, chapter 7.5.4 (table 2). The default values for the load factors are those valid for operational use of onland and offshore pipelines.

Interpretation of primary (P) and secondary loads (S) as shown.

Prescribed values for the load factors in NEN 3650-2:2017 are:

GLOADF :

1.0

(P)

PRESS-F :

1.25

for internal design pressure only

(P)

1.15

for operational and external pressures

(P)

1.10

for incidental occurring pressures

(P)

T-DIF-F :

1.10

(S)

DEADW-F :

1.10

(P)

SETL-F :

1.10

(S)/(P)

NODAL-F :

1.10

(P)

ELBND-F :

1.10

if applicable

(S)

WAVC-F :

1.20

if applicable
