Specification of extra loads on top of soil along pipeline axis (Input Table)
Through the input data table TOPLOAD an extra weight on top of the soil above the pipeline may be specified which will be added to the weight of the overburden of the soil on top of the pipeline as specified in the input data table SOILNB. This TOPLOAD may be interpreted as a live load on top of the soil.
During the following stress/strain calculations it can be specified whether the extra top load shall be taken into account or not. The value of the parameter is attached to each mid-element section by relating the coordinate of that mid-element section to the polygon data line and interpolating the parameter values at adjacent reference points.
Coordinates of successive data table lines shall have increasing values. The parameter is taken as a constant at a given cross section and not varied in the way the other soil parameters are treated.
The TOPLOAD values are multiplied with the load factor LOADF if specified.
According to NEN3650 the extra loads on top of soil is a primary loading. In case of NEN3650 calculations this load factor should be 1.35.
