In the first step of the Wizard, you can indicate which soil types are needed for this project. You can also add new soil types, copy soil types or change existing (non-predefined) soil types here. Information about soil types can be found under Methodology: Soil Types. The predefined default soil types are positioned under the topmost item: 'Predefined (Based on NEN 6740)' in the tree of defined soil types and are subdivided into five different main classes:
•gravel
•sand
•loam
•clay
•peat
A new soil type can be created by right clicking on an empty spot in the List of soil types and select New, or by clicking the New button at the bottom of the item detail panel. For a new soil type, all input fields will be blank initially. The required fields are coloured yellow. After saving the new soil type it will appear in the List of defined soil types under its specified category under the Customised types. You can also create a copy of an existing soil type: right click the soil type in the List of defined soil types and select 'Create Copy', or click the Copy button at the bottom of the item detail panel (having the soil type selected you want to copy). The copied soil type is directly added to the List of defined soil types under its specific category under the Customized types.

Only customized soil types can be edited. You can simply edit a soil type by changing one of its properties in the item detail panel (or right click the soil type in the List of defined soil types and choose Edit. Confirm the changes made by clicking the Save button or cancel them by clicking the Cancel button.
|
Only customized soil types can be deleted. Delete a soil type by clicking the Delete button when having the soil type selected, or right click the soil type in the List of defined soil types and choose Delete. A message will be given if the specific soil type is already used in a soil profile (which in turn might be assigned to an ident on the pipeline). Multiple soil types can be deleted at a time by selecting multiple soil types. |
Check mark a soil type to be able to use it in the next step Soil Profiles. Only the soil types with a checked checkbox before their name in the list will be available for constructing soil profiles. Once the soil type is specified in a soil profile the check mark will be locked (greyed) so one cannot uncheck it while it is specified in a soil profile. |
