The soil profiles can be assigned to specified idents on the pipeline using the Profile Location Editor. This editor can be opened by clicking the New or Edit Profile Locations... button in Wizard step 3: Locations. Soil mechanical values will be calculated for this ident using the specifications of the assigned soil profile.

The detail view can either provide a detail view of the selected soil profile or a detail view of the selected ident from the pipeline configuration.

One can navigate through the 3D view of the pipeline using: •The mouse scroll wheel to zoom out/in •Dragging the middle mouse button to rotate •Dragging the middle mouse button in combination with holding the Ctrl key to pan Or by simply using the tools of the Pipeline configuration toolbar to navigate. There are four toolbars located on the upper side of the Pipeline configuration view port.

One can browse through the several Idents defined on the pipeline using the Idents navigator. The selected Ident in the drop-down will also be selected in the Pipeline Configuration screen and the Ident's Detail view.

The pipeline is divided in sections depending on non linear changes (that is: Along the pipeline axis) in soil coverage, (ground) water level and pipe diameter. The aim is to provide some clues for the end user on where there are potential changes in soil values. And thus, where to assign soil profiles.
The elements of the selected section are coloured yellow. Through the section navigator one can browse through the sections. On the right, the percentage of defined section elements is shown. Once a section has a soil profile assigned to both its beginning and its end it is called 'defined'. Within the section there is no non-linear change in one of the parameters influencing the soil values, so they can be linearly interpolated using the assigned profiles1. The number of elements within defined sections are the defined section elements. 1 Right click a pipeline section in the Pipeline configuration view port to get some more details.

One can assign a profile to an ident on the pipeline by dragging it from the list of profiles and dropping it on the specific ident page from the pipeline configuration. Another possibility is to right click an ident page and choose a profile from the Assign profile option in the drop down menu. A third option is to drag the profile from the list of profiles to the Ident's Detail view screen.
Furthermore one can cut, copy, paste and remove assigned profiles. The fourth option for assigning profiles to an ident is via its properties screen. Right click an ident and choose 'Properties' from the drop down menu. Click the Change profile(s) button to modify the assignment.
